Timber Theatre ran from 1991 - 2018. Talented founder Graham Fletcher-Cook enjoyed running these sessions. Openly passing on his knowledge, wisdom and experience as an actor and director. His passing is sorely missed.

Timber improvisation workshops were started to give access to acting training for people who are generally underrepresented in the film and television industries. Directed by award winning filmmaker Graham Fletcher-Cook who has coached acting on feature films and taught classes for the BFI, Chicken Shed Theatre, Identity, Jacksons Lane, London Academy Of Media, Wiltons Music Hall and Cineclub. Graham also has many years experience as both an actor and is an award winning film director.

 

General information

Improvisation based acting and film making workshops. Influenced by the classes developed by Anna Scher and Charles Verrall. The films of both John Cassavetes and Mike Leigh also serve as major influences.

Timber have been running successful and acclaimed Stanislavski based method acting workshops since 1991.
 

Actors including Perry Benson, Charlie Creed-Miles, Tony Simpson, Jake Wood and Patsy Palmer have benefited from the fast paced improvisation sessions.

 

Directors such as Dexter Fletcher, Joe Wright, Kathy Burke, W.I.Z and Susan Tully have also been regular participants.
 

Whether you want to attend for an entire course or just keep your acting skills toned with an occasional drop in class, Timber welcomes actors of all levels and ages.
 

Sessions include: Subtext. Emotional recall and backstory. Spontaneity. Continuity. Blocking. Story structure. Character journey. Camera presence.

 

 

The workshops are designed to be joined at any time so drop-in sessions are welcome.
